At Bentsen Elementary we strive to ensure that our students are college and career ready. This year our career day was held on February 9, 2017. We incorporated many types of careers in order for our students to get exposed to the many options that are out there that they can pursue. Some of our presenters included the more common and exciting for example, border patrol, K-9 Unit, police, and fire department. However, we also had many others that ranged from business owners, finance department from a local bank, musician, coaches, prosecutor, dentist, fitness gym, and the National Guard. The students were expected to choose at least three careers of their choice and during the event go up to the presenter and ask relevant questions about their career. In addition, the students enjoyed the variety of items the presenters brought for them but, most importantly the knowledge from a possible career they might pursue in the future. Overall, our annual career fair was a success due to the teachers that helped bring in presenters and our staff that helped with the set up and making sure our rotations ran smoothly.
