|The Big Pumpkin Read|

Mrs. Acevedo’s class enjoyed reading “Big Pumpkin”. After reading and discussing the story, they proceeded to do a Sequence of Events graphic organizer. The students continued to carry the big pumpkin, touched it and made inferences as to what was inside the pumpkin and how it would feel after it was carved. As the pumpkin was being carved, they were very excited and used their senses as they saw, touched, felt, and smelled it. They proceeded to get the seeds out and counted them. The students enjoyed “empanadas” to have a taste of the pumpkin. What a great way to make their learning experience culturally relevant!
